Oh, this is a painful topic. I hate complex task management. Well, i hate everything complex.
For a team under 10 people, maybe even more, you don’t need more than 3 columns with tasks:

And that should work extremely fast. My top-10 frustrating things definitely includes slow task-management systems.
Probably this year, i’m going to start working on my own implementation of such a system, intended for small teams of 2-10 people. Accessible, simple, fast, right.
