Silence experiment

What if, for an experiment, for several days stop listening to music, podcasts, audiobooks? In information silence.

I’m storing a lot of information not backed by a practice. “Dead knowledge”. From this perspective, it seems strange to acquire new information, that is not required by a practice.

Information must be digested to become knowledge. If you have a bias towards getting new information, rather than digesting it, you may end up with a lot of noise that obscures clear thinking. To digest - to apply practice, earn experience, reflect, understand, and, most importantly, to find a place for acquired information in your life/consciousness.

I start an experiment of information diet to prove this theory:

  • Stop listening to music while working (i do it a lot and there are countless playlists). At most apply very quiet ambient.
  • Increase time of silence - when you don’t consume information and have clear space for thinking.
  • Slot information receive more strategically - understand more why you go for a new information, and what are you going to do with it.
  • Digestion over consuming: always organize your mind before consuming new information.
